We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:3-5

Life is so full of ups and downs, and at times, it can even feel like a lather, rinse, repeat of problems and trials. I’m so grateful that God is adept at rescuing His people from the pits and the lowest of lows-even the emotional ones.
This past summer was one of those times for me. In the midst of recovering from my
first depressive episode and contemplating leaving a very stressful job,; I was also
dealing coping with the raw emotions and confusion of a recent breakup. Saying that it was so hard would be an understatement. But, it was so hard.

And one night, I just got so tired of feeling so broken. The tears started because of grieving then continued because I didn’t know how I would possibly get to the part of the
story where I was resolved and moving forward with God. So, I went to Google and typed in “Christian girls heartbreak.” A few clicks later, I was led to The Simply Beloved site. I got to read article after article from other women living life and embracing challenging
situations and feelings;, while still clinging to God’s grace and immutable character.

The Simply Beloved was the breath of fresh air I needed to sift through the fog of my
emotions. The gut level honesty of the articles were a reminder to me that I was not
alone in the difficulties of my emotions; and that it is possible to be vulnerable about the struggle, while still clinging to God’s love and truth. In that same night, I applied to be a writer. It has been a joy to share the lessons God is teaching me, while connecting to
the women whose stories helped me have faith that I could get to the good part.

Additionally, we live in an age where social media can be “everything” and it is such a
privilege to be connected with a group of women who want to use social media to point
to Jesus’ love, even as we enjoy and write about the more ordinary things in life.

It has been healing to share my stories and God’s truth through The Simply Beloved.
Being a writer for the (dot)com has also stretched me in my vulnerability, writing skills , and has called me higher to trust God in proclaiming that His love is enough. There are no
answers outside of Him, as I was reminded the night I found TSB

My hope for anyone that encounters our ministry is that you are reminded that
you are not alone, God loves you and He wants what is best for you! And that you are ultimately encouraged to dig deeper into the source of our
strength and comfort. Spoiler alert: it’s God’s love, His word, and Christ centered
community. Ask me more about it any time. As James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the
heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

With love,
Esther
