You know that feeling you get when you win and you seriously feel like you can conquer the world and have superhero powers? I do. But then the crowd fades and life goes back to normal. The victory is short lived.
But, we have a Victor, and He is Jesus. He conquered the cross, the grave, and is now seated on high.
“For the LORD your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” // Deuteronomy 20:4
You guys, we can so easily go through this life and forget that we are already standing and fighting IN victory. We have a Savior who endured the cross and died so that we may live and have everlasting life. We already won, and we are victorious, my friends! In this life, we are told that we will have hardships, trials, and face persecution, but we are to hold on and to pick up our cross daily and endure till the end – our heavenly home.
I got this tattoo on my arm after really surrendering all to Jesus and seeing what it truly meant to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, what it really meant to count the cost. I knew what it meant to count the cost of my family, my relationship, my career/future, my finances, my friends, and my “good” desires. Through it all, The Lord NEVER left me or forsook me, just as His word says.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” // John 16:33
The symbolism of my tattoo is that in this life we must endure the cross to get the crown: victory. Although, we are fighting from victory it is a constant reminder and encouragement to keep running with endurance and finish the race here on this earth. It’s the cross before the crown. The same way Jesus endured the cross and is now crowned in victory, seated at the right hand of the Father. For it is finished.
We can find little victories in our everyday lives, beloveds. Here’s just a few ways the Lord has let me feel victorious lately:
- Providing wildly when I least expected it. Maybe for you, that’s getting the job you’ve been waiting for or your check multiplying over time, or maybe it’s just the little thing of someone treating you to coffee of lunch when money was tight. Let Him bless you through others.
- It could be finally mustering up the courage and boldness to step out in a new calling or work that He has prepared for you or stepping out in faith in saying “Yes, I’ll go,” in whatever capacity it may be. You did it, by God’s grace. Hooray!
- It could be the sweet answer from The Lord during your quiet time, a friend that came by at the right moment, or that text that had a verse that was easily meant for you. He is so faithful. And His timing is always perfect! He is high above it all.
See, it’s the everyday victories that keep us going. Keep running that race, Beloveds.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” // James 1:12
