Power Balls

Well ladies, we did it! It’s 2015 and it’s time to start killin’ it! I’m so glad it’s finally 2015, because for some reason I couldn’t get the hang of 2014. Whenever I had to date things I would write 2015. So basically I already lived through this year, and let me tell you peeps, you’re all in for a great ride!

I know everyone argues that it’s cliché, but a lot of us have resolutions to get or stay healthy in 2015. Let’s all just take a moment to “shake off” the haters (little bit of Taylor never hurt anyone), because who cares if it’s cliché to say we want to be healthy. I mean, we only have one body on this earth – one that, not to mention, was bought at the highest price – we might as well take care of it!

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

The most common concern I am approached with when it comes to health is how to stay healthy when on the go. That’s when I reply with a simple four letter word: prep! With just a little preparation you can be stacked and ready to tackle the day without being worried about withering away from starvation. Okay that was dramatic, but seriously, if my stomach growls I’m pretty much convinced I’m dying. (Just me?) I like to keep things like nuts, fruit, veggies, and my favorite power balls in my car for emergency snack attacks. My friend introduced me to these delicious little puppies last year and I could eat them everyday. They are ridiculously easy to make, super filling, and full of all natural ingredients! Can it get any better?

Nutty Power Balls
½ cup nut butter (I love using cashew butter but it’s a little pricey; peanut or almond work great)
1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
1 cup rolled oats (uncooked)
½ tsp vanilla
¼ cup honey
* optional* ¼ cup chocolate chips (I like to add 97% cacao dark chocolate)
¼ cup flaxseed or chia seed

Ready for this super difficult process? Add all ingredients into a bowl. Mix to combine. Use cookie scoop or spoon to make balls (however big or small you’d like) and place on parchment paper. Refrigerate for about an hour and devour! Store them in an airtight container in the fridge.

Like I said, super easy! One batch makes 20-30 balls depending on the size. Just like that you have prepped a delicious snack that will help you get through your busy day! Now get to shakin’ off them haters and shakin’ on them healthy habits! Cheers to us & the new year!!
