This is my dear friend, Sienna Cheyenne Handy. Her ministry I felt was more relatable to the people our age who are living on a college campus. She serves not only the body of Christ, but the student body by offering haircuts, and wedding makeup and hair for those getting married. She followed the Lord’s beckoning when she started up a women’s prayer/worship group. This lady is filled with joy from Jesus and you are blessed by her smile each day. I hope her life y’all read about blesses your hearts, as she does mine.
In Him Always,
How do you live out your purpose daily?
God has given me a heart for His people. Honestly, I really think considering the hard heart I had a few years ago, it is huge how much God has done in my heart and my life. My purpose is to live out the love of God and encourage His people. Being a cosmetologist that is currently on hold and in schooling, God has given me the ability to still use my gifts to help out the people of the Bible college campus with free haircuts. I have even had the opportunity of doing makeup for weddings as well. Also having started a woman’s’ prayer and worship group at our campus has also allowed me to connect and encourage the body. Basically, I am just a girl who is willing to be used anyway The Lord wills. From giving me a heart for inner beauty and cosmetology, The Lord has given me opportunity to minster and encourage many girls in this area.
How did you find your purpose?
Having a history of low self-esteem, an eating disorder, a skin disease, and just ultimately not knowing who I was, I found my identity in a guy and not in The Lord. After falling into sin, I realized how much of a mess I was. I realized that all the areas I was struggling with, The Lord had a purpose for me. I really believe your mess becomes your MESSage. God then soon grabbed ahold of my heart. Being so wrapped up in my career yet struggling with internal issues, I then understood God wanted something different for me, different plans for my life than I had for myself. After rededicating my life to The Lord, I began to quickly surrender my life of pain and sin to The Lord. Quickly after, I decided to move to Murrieta, California to go to Calvary Chapel Bible College. There, God revealed to me all that I was to do with my life. My desire to make money and live a life solely for my pleasure changed drastically. God then placed on my heart, women. Then I thought, how many woman struggle like I do? How many women don’t know their worth and inner beauty and how to see themselves through Christ’s eyes? God then gave me a vision. I can use my gifts, my passion, and even my past to encourage women. I can use my gift of cosmetology to bless people around campus, I can use my past to minister to others, and ultimately, I can use the heart and love for people I have to share the love of God through encouragement of inner worth. That is where I am. God has put this passion in me at the age of 18, and now I walk in that.
How do you live out your purpose even in the toughest of times?
You know, it’s all The Lord. I still struggle with the discouragement of my past, I still go through seasons of my life where I have a hard time believing the things I “preach” about. But The Lord sustains. I have to pray and remember, this is my purpose. The Lord has put this purpose on my heart. I truly believe The Lord gives us the desires of our heart so long as our desires match up with His. Prayer is key. Prayer is key for me to walk and live out my purpose. Just recently, I had a major outbreak of Psoriasis, which is a genetic skin condition, it was so bad to the point that it was on my face and eyes. I was having a hard time living out my purpose through all of that but I quickly was reminded of that verse,
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Pushing through suffering and tribulation knowing what good could come from it and how The Lord could use it really just puts a new perspective. Because of that simple reminder, I am able to live out my purpose despite what trials and troubles come my way.
How exactly did God call you?
Honesty, all I can say is that when God puts a deep desire in my heart for something, I know it’s serious and I know it’s Him. People can look at my life and say, what has she done? What is she doing? How is this even a purpose? Well, I would just like to say, we all have a purpose and we all were born for the sole purpose of serving The Lord with our life, so I know that even though giving free haircuts and doing makeup for weddings, and starting a prayer and worship group or even just encouraging others around me with blogging and etc, isn’t necessarily a “big time” purpose but it’s the purpose The Lord has for me now and I know this is only the beginning.
What is your dream?
My dream? The crazy thing is that on the top of my head I cannot think of anything else but being a wife, a mother, and serving The Lord with my life in full time ministry. This is totally a twist on what I used to dream. I know The Lord has me for this purpose, to use my past and my desire to reach and seek out woman, this is a dream for me. An ultimate dream of mine is to be able to use cosmetology on the mission field somehow. But really, I am a simple girl with a extremely huge desire to serve God wherever, doing whatever. There is a reason for these desires and I am ecstatic to see what The Lord brings.
